OXO’s silicone poachers make sense if you want a guide that holds each egg in a simmering water bath and are willing to wash two additional pieces. Keep ordinary poaching if your existing method is comfortable. These are perforated guides, not sealed egg cups or microwave egg cookers.

Understand the hourglass design
The OXO 11207000 set contains two silicone poachers. The manufacturer describes a funnel-shaped upper section and perforated lower area that allows cooking water to circulate around the egg. The design differs from a solid silicone cup that keeps the egg separated from the water.
That distinction is central to choosing the right product. If you want a self-contained microwave vessel or an electric egg appliance, this set does not perform that role. We have not tested release, egg shape or the consistency of results.
Check your pot rather than only the drawer
Allow enough room for the poachers to sit as instructed, with their prescribed water level and clearance for handling. Two pieces may be compact in storage while still occupying useful pan space during cooking. Measure the vessel you intend to use before assuming both will fit comfortably.
A low or narrow pan can make it harder to add the egg and lift the accessory without disturbing the other piece. Follow the included setup instructions, including fill marks, instead of adapting a random cup-poaching method to this perforated design.
The accessory helps one part of the process
The funnel is intended to guide the egg into the water, while the surrounding lower section helps contain it. That can appeal to someone who dislikes managing an egg’s position in open water. It does not automatically choose heat, timing or final doneness.
We do not provide a guaranteed cooking time based on egg size alone. Use the supplied directions alongside appropriate food-safety guidance for the people being served. A neat-looking result should not be treated as proof that an egg has reached the required doneness.
Cleanup and storage determine repeated use

The manufacturer’s lifting tab is useful for the intended handling method, but hot water and steam still require care. Follow the supplied directions and use suitable hand protection when needed. We have not assessed how comfortable that handling will be for different users.

Buy the pair if you regularly want water-poached eggs, the guides address a step you find awkward and your pot accommodates them. Compare the delivered price of the complete two-piece set rather than assuming every offer includes a pair.
Skip them when a familiar method already works or another egg style would serve breakfast just as well. A small specialty tool is worthwhile when it gets used and washed routinely; it offers less value if the preparation is too occasional to justify storing dedicated pieces.
