Quick verdict
Choose by fit, capacity-specific specification and a genuine seller rather than the largest speed on the package. FIT Plus is worth considering when its slightly more substantial body is acceptable; Ultra Fit suits the smallest protrusion. For large repeated writes, compare a portable SSD instead of assuming either tiny flash drive performs like one.

Who should buy or skip
Buy if: you want compact USB-A storage for compatible everyday file transfers.
Skip if: the only available port is USB-C, or you need dependable high-volume sustained writing rather than occasional transfers.
Compare the choices
| Choice | Choose it for | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| FIT Plus | Compact storage with a graspable body | Check clearance beside adjacent ports |
| Ultra Fit | Very low protrusion | Small body can be awkward to remove |
| Portable SSD | Large repeated transfers and working files | More space and usually a cable |
Read the capacity-specific footnotes
Samsung’s FIT Plus data sheet lists up to 300MB/s reads for 64GB and up to 400MB/s for 128GB through 512GB. SanDisk’s checked Ultra Fit page also qualifies its up-to-400MB/s claim by capacity. These are read-speed claims, not guaranteed write speeds.
Compare the exact capacity on the offer you will buy. A retailer may show the biggest speed for the entire product family beside a smaller selected size. Older stock and revised packaging also deserve attention. Do not assume a familiar model name freezes the specification forever.
Low profile has a handling tradeoff
A small protrusion is useful when a drive would otherwise catch on nearby objects. It can also make removal harder, particularly with closely spaced ports or limited finger access. Check the host device’s port recess and the space occupied by neighbouring plugs.
A drive small enough to leave connected is not automatically safe to transport in every laptop or bag. Protect the connector and follow the host’s storage and ejection guidance. Check suitability separately for a television, router or other appliance; computer compatibility alone does not establish those uses.
Heat reports are a reason to assess the workload
Owner reports checked on Samsung’s product pages include concerns about heat under use. That does not establish a controlled temperature comparison or a failure rate. Tiny drives have limited physical space, and a warm case alone does not tell you whether a transfer is complete or a fault exists.
EverythingUSB’s published mini-drive tests include FIT Plus and Ultra Fit, illustrating why real workloads and tested capacities matter more than headline reads. We have not reproduced those tests. If you repeatedly write large media collections, choose based on verified sustained-writing evidence, or move to a suitable SSD. Keep an independent copy of important files.
Buying in the United States or Canada
Check capacity, model suffix, package condition and seller authenticity in both countries. A very low price from an unfamiliar seller is not a reason to trust the capacity or warranty. Buy for a returnable, testable product rather than a marketplace title alone.
The buttons open the named country’s Amazon search results. Match the exact model, size and included parts before ordering. Compare delivered cost, seller and return terms; no fixed price, availability or warranty eligibility is promised.
Questions before ordering
Are they USB-C drives?
The FIT Plus and Ultra Fit versions compared here are USB-A products.
Does 400MB/s mean a file will copy that fast?
No. The published claim is qualified read performance; writing and the host connection can be much slower.
Final buying decision
Buy the smallest format that you can still handle and that fits your host. Compare the exact capacity and test a new drive before relying on it. Choose an SSD for a sustained-transfer job.
